Who Are We?
MHNA members are comprised of residents of the area, including property owners, tenants and students renting property off-campus in this area, and owners of homes and businesses within the boundaries of the neighborhood:
Hartford Avenue to the North
Bradford Avenue to the South
Downer Avenue to the East
Oakland Avenue to the West
A common member perspective:
One Saturday not long ago an acquaintance of mine from the suburbs asked me how I could stand living in the city. “Well” I said, “let’s go for a walk and I’ll tell you.” “Sure,” he said, “let’s take my car. The park is only about a ten minute drive over to the next town.”You see, like many suburbs, his neighborhood has no sidewalks and few places to go other than home. Here in the Murray Hill neighborhood you can take just a short walk on our sidewalks to so many interesting places. Nature, culture, the arts, restaurants with a wide variety of cuisines, schools and higher education are just some of the opportunities that are within walking distance. Better yet, this is a neighborhood where you can still walk to the grocery and the hardware store.
When I suggested that my suburban friend come on over and visit to my neighborhood, he declined, saying that he had to spend the afternoon on his riding lawnmower. So I went home and mowed my tiny lawn and walked to the grocery and the hardware store and the park and then I went for a cup of coffee and…
